Frequently Asked Questions

Horse Inspection

Riders must present their horses at the "trot-up" the day before the event. During this process, members of the "Ground Jury" and the Veterinary Delegate will verify the horses' identities using their passports and microchips, as well as assess their overall soundness and fitness to compete.

Draw

The "draw," which determines when each horse and rider combination will start in a competition, takes place the day before the event, rather than after entries close. This adds to the excitement and tension, particularly for the riders, and means that individual starting times cannot be ahead of the show.

Equestrian Canada Policy for Competing at International Events

Canadian para-equestrian athletes interested in competing at FEI level para-dressage competitions must meet and comply with the following requirements:

  • Be an EC Platinum Sport Licence Holder in good standing

  • Hold an FEI Registration for the current year

  • Sign and abide by the EC Athlete Agreement

  • Hold FEI Para-Dressage Classification

  • Obtain an approved training and competition plan focused on international performance

  • Meet the requirements to be a para-dressage ranked athlete and have an average score of 65% or better on the para-dressage ranking list

If this is your first CPEDI, can we help you prepare and answer all your questions?

You'll need the following:

  • A platinum membership

  • Permission to compete

  • FEI vaccinations for your horse

  • FEI horse registration
